President’s Page

Dear esteemed members, colleagues, and friends,

I stand before you today, humbled and honored to accept the presidency of Indian Radiological Imaging Association Kerala for 2025. I begin by expressing my deepest gratitude to the Almighty, my parents, family, mentors, & team in Radiology Kerala. Your unwavering support and guidance have brought me to this moment.

I extend my sincere thanks to Dr. M. R. Balachandran Nair, Dr. Amel Antony, Dr. Ramesh S. Shenoy & the team at Kochi for their unrelenting support. I’m also grateful to Mohanan sir, Hon. Vice Chancellor and Past National President, IRIA, for entrusting me with significant responsibilities, including heading the Fetal Radiology Subspecialty & organizing national conferences.

To the Immediate Past President, Dr. Gomathy Subramanian & the Kerala State Executive committee, I offer my heartfelt appreciation for your guidance, support & friendship.

As secretary of IRIA Kerala, I’m proud of our achievements over the past five years, working on the six C’s to activate the Kerala chapter & earn recognition as the best state chapter twice.

The six C’s we worked for the last few years were a fantastic framework for activating the Kerala chapter of IRIA. Here’s an elaboration of each:

  1. Confront: Address the challenges faced by members, such as medicolegal issues, turf erosion, & other concerns. This involves creating a supportive environment where members can share their concerns & work together to find solutions.
  2. Central IRIA activities: Foster a strong connection with the national IRIA organization, promoting membership, participation, & engagement in central initiatives.
  3. Curricular and academic activities: Focus on educational initiatives, such as organizing conferences, workshops, & training programs that enhance the skills and knowledge of Radiologists and imaging professionals.
  4. Cultural activities: Promote cultural events, such as Srishti, that celebrate the artistic side of Radiology & foster a sense of community among members.
  5. Compassionate & social responsibility activities: Engage in social initiatives, like Raksha, that demonstrate the profession’s commitment to giving back to society and making a positive impact.
  6. City chapter activities: Activate & expand city chapters, encouraging local engagement, meetings, & initiatives that cater to the specific needs of members in different regions.

By focusing on these six C’s, we have created a comprehensive approach to building a strong, supportive, & active community of Radiologists and imaging professionals in Kerala.

Now, as President, I propose a new framework for the year, built upon three E’s:

  1. Excellence in all branches and subspecialties of Clinical Radiology in all healthcare entities.
  2. Expand the scope of Radiology & Imaging into newer modalities, integrated diagnostics, and therapies.
  3. Establish the identity of our profession, earning a rightful place & meaningful role in healthcare, & asserting our leadership in interdisciplinary interactions for community health through Radiological technologies.

I invite your support & cooperation in achieving these goals. Together, let’s create a roadmap for the next five years & make a meaningful impact on Radiology & healthcare.

Thank you once again for your trust & support. I look forward to your contributions and collaboration in achieving the three E’s.
I am sure my team of office bearers with Secretary Prof. Dr. Judy Mary Kurian, President Elect Prof. Dr. C. Kesavadas will wholeheartedly support to make this a reality.
Thank you dear friends.

Long live IRIA!
Dr. Rijo Mathew
